IchbinMalerin
'Ich bin Malerin' is an expansive, floating installation made of painted transparent slides.
As a child, I wanted to become a painter. I saw my future self with a palette in front of an easel. Coming from this childhood imagination, time has radically changed my view and expanded my perspective of painting.
The work 'Ich bin Malerin' is an expression of my physical and mental engagement with the creation of an artwork.
The act of painting consists on one hand in the continuous writing of the sentence ,Ich bin Malerin’ (I am a painter) and on the other hand in the indirect application of acrylic paint without touching the transparent background.
The individual transparent sheets are held together with recycling cord, originally intended to bundle together paper for disposal and recycling.
The utilized slides are also typically used for copy and reproduction.
But instead of photocopying, I write the same sentence 'Ich bin Malerin' over and over again by hand.
Every line becomes a continuous confirmation of my artistic work.
